VOCABULARY UNIT 2 REVIEW
Unknown Words - unknown words are words you have
not seen before or do not know. When you come to an unknown word in your reading, you can look up its meaning in a dictionary or glossary. Greek and Latin roots are used in many English words. When you find a word you don’t know, being familiar with its Greek or Latin root may help you understand what the word means. Unfamiliar Words - Use context clues to help you figure out unfamiliar words. Context clues are the words and sentences around the unfamiliar words. Inflected Endings - Inflected endings -s, -ed, and -ing are added to the end of a word to create a new word with a new meaning. If you are unsure about the meaning of a word with an inflected ending, check the dictionary. |
